DJR Real Estate LLC is a commercial real estate firm built around a single principle: do the work yourself, and the right deals follow.
DJR Real Estate develops ground-up projects and acquires existing assets across net-lease retail, grocery-anchored centers, self-storage, and daily-use pad development. We invest and develop as a principal, partnering with institutional clients, including REITs and private equity firms, and national operators expanding their footprints.
The firm runs lean by design. Every opportunity is sourced, underwritten, and presented personally — not handed off to a junior team or filtered through layers of process. That keeps the work honest and the relationships direct.
Leadership
Dan founded DJR Real Estate in 2023 to do commercial real estate the way he believes it should be done: hands-on, disciplined, and with conviction behind every recommendation. He leads the firm's ground-up developments and investment activity nationwide, structuring land acquisitions, ground leases, build-to-suits, and dispositions across net-lease retail, grocery-anchored centers, self-storage, and daily-use development.
Before founding DJR, Dan spent more than 15 years in commercial real estate, with deep roots in valuation, underwriting, and due diligence. He served as Director of Underwriting and Development at a national real estate developer and held senior real estate roles at EY and Grant Thornton, advising private equity, REIT, and institutional clients on acquisitions, dispositions, and valuations across every major property type. That analytical foundation is how DJR underwrites every deal today.
Dan holds a Master of Professional Studies in Real Estate from Georgetown University and a B.S. in Business Administration in Economics, Real Estate & Urban Analysis from The Ohio State University. He is based in Chicago and works with clients across the country.
